FIELD INFORMATION
For Field Closures
– check MSC hotline (201-280-1494)
– Park & Rec hotline (201-670-5565 option #6)
Occasionally weather conditions deteriorate after the Parks Department
has made the decision to leave the fields open. If a field closure
announcement has not been made coaches should use their own discretion
about fields for any practice. If the coach feels a field is unsafe, or
that practicing on it will cause significant damage to the field, they
should cancel their practice or training session. If a coach decides to
cancel a training session the coach should not dismiss the trainer without
alerting the coaches who follow them to confirm that they too are canceling
for the day.
Field closure procedure and TBS procedures are noted in NCSA Rules of
Competition (ROC). Print out NCSA ROC and review in advance of a closure,
rainout etc. Bring ROC to every game. TBS games in the initial NCSA
schedule must be SCHEDULED within first two weeks of opening matches…do not
delay! Play make up games early in the season. Read in NCSA ROC
process for field closures – make sure you know how to contact the
opposition if there is a field condemnation etc…If away team has a field
closure or their Club has condemned fields, contact Doug immediately to see
if a Ridgewood field is available. Away games can be played on home field
if needed – read the rules please. If a field changes, the ref will go to
original field – post a parent to meet the ref and alert of field change.
Monitor the NCSA site for schedule changes. If a field is open but
“dangerous” – the ref calls the game, not a coach. For weekday practices,
if in doubt call the MSC hotline or Parks and Rec but Parks has till 4 PM
to make a determination. Err on the side of caution if the fields are open
but weather has changed. (If session is with paid trainer – contact
him/her, always get their cell number for last minute communications).
Thanks. Doug
